Monte Rubello is a majestic peak in northern Italy’s Pre-Alps that soars almost one and a half kilometres skywards. It is the dominating feature of the region’s landscape and it finds itself within the bounds of the Oasi Zegna, a natural park that has been owned by the Zegna family for generations with the aim of protecting this mountain area. It is a mark of the family’s pride that the timepieces made in partnership with Girard Perregaux share now the name of this noble mountain.

The relationship between Ermenegildo Zegna and Girard Perregaux is a partnership between two companies that share more than 320 years of experience in their respective fields and a set of enduring values: appreciation of quality and dedication to perfectio

The Story

In 2010 the house of Ermenegildo Zegna celebrated its centenary , but long before this name became famous in the world of fashion, the Zegna family were known as  wool merchants in the north of Italy. Although the family had been active in the wool trade for centuries, Ermenegildo’s father chose a different métier. Michelangelo Zegna was a watchmaker and the family archive still has a watch he made; open the caseback and there on the savonette, the hinged metal cover that protects the movement, is engraved the legend ‘Angelo Zegna Baruffa Trivero’.

Limited Edition Timepieces

The first watch that the menswear house and watchmaker created together was the slim and classic calendar watch launched to honour the centenary of Ermenegildo Zegna in 2010. Encouraged by the success of this watch, made only in a small series of 100 pieces Zegna decided to launch a permanent collection of timepieces that embodied the characteristics of both traditions. The result is the Monterubello collection, available in two models: Monterubello Solo Tempo and the Monterubello Chronograph.

Five years have passed since Ermenegildo Zegna and Girard Perregaux, embarked on a journey to make the most elegant timepieces by combining the meticulous manufacturing prowess of a name hallowed in horological history with the unique savoir fair of Zegna. To mark this important anniversary Ermenegildo Zegna is proud to present the Monterubello Power Reserve, a fitting celebration of half a decade in the watch business. This timepiece is the distillation of the refinement that connoisseurs have come to come to expect from watches bearing the Monterubello name.
