History
Lanificio Zegna was founded by Ermenegildo Zegna in 1910. Although starting out with only a small mill and a few looms, the young entrepreneur immediately set himself a very ambitious task: to compete in terms of quality with the world-leading British textile manufacturers.
Today, Lanificio Zegna employs 450 people and produces around 2 million metres of fabric a year, much of which is made exclusively for the Ermenegildo Zegna collections. Customers also include the world’s top ready-to-wear labels and best designers and Brands, the most skilful tailors from all over the world.
The complete production process is carried out at the Mill – from raw material selection to finishing. Commitment to quality and the use of modern technology to back up artisan craftsmanship is the living tradition linking past, present and future.
